Manitoba Premier Brian Pallister has acknowledged his mistake. He was seen without a mask in the Toronto Airport along with Conservative Leader Andrew Scheer. Both the leaders were photographed at the Toronto Pearson Airport without a mask, and it was a clear violation of the COVID19 rules.
Pallister has now admitted that he joined some friends in conversations at the airport and lifted his mask. He admitted that it was his error however and vowed not to repeat the same again.
Two social media accounts shared the photographs of the incident that happened around noon on Tuesday.
Kelsie Chiasson, a spokesperson for Scheer has also confirmed that Mr. Scheer was at the airport. However, she insisted that Scheer removed the mask only for a brief moment. Chaisson said that Scheer was traveling to Ottawa and he removed the face mask to take a phone call and the photograph was taken on that brief moment before he put it on again.
However, when asked that Mr.Scheer was not with the phone in the photo, she clarified that the photo was taken before he put the mask again.
The Official Twitter account of Toronto Pearson Airport has again reminded that everyone needs to wear a facemask. It has laid out four exceptions and using a phone is not one of them. The rule is in place since June 1 and with all possibilities, both the leaders have violated the COVID19 protocols.
From Tuesday, using a mask on publically accessing any indoor setting is also compulsory in Toronto.
The entire incident did not go well with the social media users of course. The questions were rightfully asked about the responsibilities and following protocols.
However, it is understood that everyone would make sure that they are taking the utmost precaution during the pandemic.
