The bad news is out. Great Canadian Gaming is shutting down its casinos just weeks after their relaunch. The pandemic is by no means over!
The situation continues to be dire across Canada, as elsewhere. The gambling industry continues to suffer mandating management action. Such is the case in two provinces, New Brunswick and Ontario. It is for the health and safety of patrons.
Among the related affected entertainment businesses facing shut down are bingo halls, cinemas, theatres, and arcades.
Likely gyms and health centers will be next. Restaurants and bars have implemented health protocols of late.
It will be tough for locals. Casino New Brunswick is the gambling hotspot in its region. It had reopened seven days a week in late September with health measures in place. Given that casino venues in Toronto, Peel, as well as Ottawa, were ordered to shut down recently, Great Canadian Gaming is following suit. Casino Woodbine, near the racetrack, has faced the same fate after reopening.
Of note, other Great Canadian Gaming casinos and gambling halls in Ontario are in full operation.
