It would mean that the landscape of legalized gambling has shifted. If it passes, the provinces can offer this form of gambling. The ban has vexed politicians from casino towns like Windsor, Ontario who want the Canadian government to loosen the gambling laws. They have long wanted the rules to expire.
Also waiting in the wings is a telecom giant and payment processor. It hopes to position itself to take advantage of the new wave. Credit the United States for launching the sports betting boat.
